Notice -- Read This

Certification
 

Certification is awarded upon successful completion of the course objectives. Successful completion requires 100% attendance and achievement of learning objectives.

As Continuing Education Provider #1236, The Direct Learning Resource will send your certification to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation within at least seven days {59.51(e)} [usually within 24-48 hours] of the course completion. We will also keep your course completion records on file for two years {59.51(f)}, and you may request copies during this time {59.51(g)}.You, as the licensee are provided a completion certificate for your records within 15 days {59.51(d) [Usually immediately upon completion], and you are required to keep this certificate on file for 1 year {73.25(f)}. This certificate need NOT be included with your license renewal, as we notify the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for you.

Scheduling

We will schedule at least two C E classroom classes per month, every other Saturday, and will schedule more based on demand. Every effort is made to begin and hold class at the designated time. Contact The Direct Learning Resource to inquire about adding a class to our schedule to fit yours. Every attempt will be made to accommodate your request. The Direct Learning Resource reserves the right to cancel classes, change class locations, dates, fees, class size and instructors when necessary. Students are not notified if a class has made. Students are contacted only in the event of a class cancellation or change.

Class Size

Classes will be limited to a minimum of 10 students and a maximum of 25 students. Each class is contingent on the required minimum number of students. If the minimum enrollment is not met, enrolled students will be notified by email, phone or fax, as per their applications' preferred method of contact, 24 to 48 hours in advance of the class, and we will attempt to reschedule each student in the next available class which fits their schedule. If rescheduling attempts meet with conflict, a full refund will be given within 45 days.

Registration and Payment Options

Registrations are accepted on a first-come basis. Register early to secure a place in the class of your choice. Payment must be made at time of registration. Full payment must be received before a place can be reserved in class. If you must register after 5:00 p.m., contact the main office before 5:00 p.m. and make arrangements.

We offer a $10.00 Discount for prepaid early enrollment.

Payment for discounted enrollment MUST be received at least 5 business days before scheduled class time.

Payments can be made online at www.thedirectlearningresource.com using credit card, or PayPal.

Alternately, you may register and pay at the door, using credit card, money order or cash, (Sorry, checks not accepted at the door)
providing the class has not reached its maximum limit.

Inclement weather

Should inclement weather occur and threaten the cancellation of a class, enrolled students should check our web site at www.thedirectlearningresource.com where a notice will be posted stating the cancellations or rescheduling of any pending classes.

Enrolled students will also be notified by email, phone or fax, as per their applications' preferred method of contact, 24 hours in advance of the class or as soon as possible due to the weather conditions, and we will attempt to reschedule each student in the next available class which fits their schedule. If rescheduling attempts meet with conflict, a full refund will be given within 45 days.

Instructor cancellations and no shows

Should there be an occurrence where an instructor cancels a class, enrolled students will be notified by email, phone or fax, as per their applications' preferred method of contact, 24 to 48 hours in advance of the class and we will attempt to reschedule each student to the next available class which fits their schedule. If rescheduling attempts meet with conflict, a full refund will be given. In the event of a no show, obviously we will not have 48 hours notice. In this case, if another instructor can cover in a timely manner, this will be arranged. If not, or if the delay interferes with the students schedule, we will attempt to reschedule each student in the next available class that fits their schedule. If rescheduling attempts meet with conflict, a full refund will be given within 45 days.

Other Refunds

The student accepts the responsibility for attending class, being punctual, being respectful to others, maintaining a neat appearance and making an honest effort to complete the learning objectives. Full refund will be given if cancelled in writing at least three days before class start date or if class is cancelled by The Direct Learning Resource.  No refunds or transfers within 3 business days before class begins. 

If no notice is given, there will be no refund given. If an emergency arose within a 24-hour period, the student should inform The Direct Learning Resource at the earliest possible time. Emergencies such as these will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Attempts to reschedule students will always be taken before any refund is considered. Case-by-case basis reviews may receive no refund, a partial refund or possibly a full refund.

If a student fails to finish a class (leaves before it is over), for other than emergency reasons, that student will not receive a refund. If a student should have to leave for an emergency before the class has been completed, with approval of the instructor, the student will be rescheduled for the same class on a different date at no charge. The student will, however, have to take the full class again.

Drug and Alcohol Policy

The Direct Learning Resource will not tolerate any illegal drugs or alcohol use, either in any class or prior to any class. If a student is asked to leave due to using, possessing, or under the influence of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs, there will be no refund given.

Rules and Responsibilities of Students Enrolled in the Continuing Education Classes

 

FAILURE TO ABIDE BY THESE RULES CAN RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FROM THE CLASS AND FORFEITURE OF ALL FEES AND CERTIFICATES!

 

1. Certification is awarded upon successful completion of the course objectives. Successful completion requires 100% attendance and achievement of learning objectives. 

2. Smoking is prohibited inside the building.  Alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs are not allowed, including in the parking lot.

3. Misconduct or any other inappropriate action on your part will lead to your immediate dismissal from this class.

4. Theft, vandalism, abusive or disruptive behavior will NOT be tolerated. Vandalism or theft of any school property including books and exams, or any property belonging to another student while he/she is on school property (satellite classrooms included) will be punishable up to and including termination from the class, and any other legal means. 

5. Students and instructors are NOT permitted to talk on a cell phone while in the classes. Cell phones and pagers must be in the “SILENT” or vibrate mode, and not answered while in class.

Online Course Policies

Do I only get one course with my purchase?
Yes.  Each purchase includes only one course. 

Can I share my account with my friend?
No.
Your purchase is limited to single user access. For security reasons, your course purchase will include an individual order number to protect us from password sharing.  
Additional questions are used each time you login and during the actual course to ensure student authentication.

Can I register for several employees?

Do I need special software to view the course on my computer?
Yes.
  Because we are committed to providing accessible continuing education courses, we limit the use of special software needed to view courses. The following programs will enable you to take full advantage of our course: You will need Flash Player to view our course material.  Most computers have this software pre-installed.  If you are not sure, then download the latest Flash Player (FREE) by clicking HERE. Our servers automatically check to see if your computer has the needed Flash player, and will notify you if you don't.

Although the course will function on a dial-up connection, it is recommended to utilize a broadband connection such as DSL or cable, as the "contents" will load faster.

After I purchase, can I print the Course?
No
, our online course taking process is online only. You can take your course from any computer that has internet access.

Can I pause my course, and come back to it later?
Yes.
  A course can be paused at any time for later use. When you are ready to continue your course, simply log back in, select your paused course, and continue on, from where you stopped.

How do I get help?
You can obtain help by sending a request to us via our "contact us" form (24/7), or by calling us at 1-806-291-7278 during our listed business hours.

What happens if I forget my username or password?
If you cannot remember your password, a link is provided for this in your login area, you can click on that link and we will send your password to you at the email address you registered with. If you have forgotten your username, AND password, just let us know via our "contact us" form (24/7), or by calling us at 1-806-291-7278 during our listed business hours, and provide us your order number, we can provide your registered information to you.

Is The Direct Learning Resource approved by the State of Texas?
Yes.  The Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR) has authorized The Direct Learning Resource to offer continuing education courses to Electricians in the State of Texas, license number 1236.

Is there any sales tax?
No. None of our continuing education courses are taxable.      

Will I receive continuing education credit when I complete my course?
Yes.  When you successfully complete all course materials required by the State of Texas, then you will receive the appropriate credit.
------ The course certification cannot be sent to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation until you have completed the entire course.
------ All information is verified prior to the certification being sent to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. If any misleading or false
------ information is submitted to The Direct Learning Resource, the Certification with the State of Texas is voided, and no refund will be given.

Is there a completion policy?
Yes. Unless otherwise notified, you have 60 days from the date of purchase to complete your course.

Is there a refund policy?
Yes. Students requesting a refund or exchange for an on-line course may only request a refund prior to 10:00 PM (Cental Time), on the same day ordered, and must not have accessed the course in order to receive a refund. In these cases, a full refund minus a $10.00 handling fee will be provided.

There are several ways to cancel an order 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
You can:
Call us, (or when closed - call us & leave a voicemail), OR send us an e-mail, OR use our "Contact Us" form.

For students who have already accessed the course, or are requesting a refund after 10:00 PM (Central Time) on the same day ordered, there will be no refund available. (see our "policies" page)

Is there a termination / access restriction policy?
Yes. In case of irregularities, (mostly false information provided by you) The Direct Learning Resource reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to terminate your access to any or all of the site and the related services or any portion thereof at any time, without notice, or refund, if applicable.
If any misleading or false information is submitted to The Direct Learning Resource, the Certification with the State of Texas is voided, and no refund will be given.

Is there a copyright policy?
Yes.

What happens after I successfully complete my course?
Immediately upon successfully completing the course, we will issue a certificate of completion. You will be able to print the certificate from your personal course completion page. You don't need to send it to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, as we notify them for you, however you are required to keep it on file for a mimimum of one year. We will inform the TDLR of your course completion, usually within 24-48 hours, or if needed for special cases, we may notify them immediately if you contact us and arrange for this service (additional fees may apply).

State Law requires that we notify the state within 7 days of successfull course completion.
The date of course completion is determined by the licensee, therefore, if you have not completed the course prior to any third party deadline, (such as your license expiration) The Direct Learning Resource will not be responsible for courses completed after ANY deadlines, and no refund will be given. You may still be able to complete the course, and gain certification upon the date of course completion (for your next years license renewal).

Can I return again, or later, and print out my completion certificate?
YES!
For a period of 15 days after completion, all you need to do is log-in again, and you will be taken directly to your completion certificate, and you can print it, free of charge!

If more than 15 days have passed, we can mail you a copy of your completion certificate, just order HERE and provide us your Name, License Number, and Order number. (a $10.00/$15.00 postage and handling fee will apply)

Can I renew my license online?
Yes.
  After you successfully complete the Electricians Continuing Education course, and it has been certified by the provider (within at least 7 days) with the state, you will be able renew your license online by clicking HERE.

Can I get a copy of my invoice?
Yes. You can print a copy when purchased. Also, you will immediately receive a copy of your invoice via your provided e-mail address upon purchase, which you can print. You can also view and print your invoice from the "See your order" link provided in that e-mail.

How long will you retain my course information?
The Direct Learning Resource will retain course completion records for a period of two years after completion of a course, as required by state law.

Can I get a copy of my course information?
Yes.  Please send request for course information HERE, and include your Texas electricians license number, and order number.   Please allow 10 days to process request.  (A $15.00/$20.00 postage and handling fee will apply).
